First, I have a confession; we actually DID use a tiller on 2 rows of our garden. A couple of reasons were for this. One, Matt’s back issues and mine made hoeing a bit tougher than normal. Two, we borrowed my mom’s small tiller, so why not?!
When we came home from vacation, we were totally shocked to see all the GROWTH! The lettuce, both the volunteers from last year and the planted seeds (that should have been thinned out) were green, lush, and plentiful. The radishes ready to start harvesting. The peas blossoming. The strawberries were blooming and a few tiny chartreuse berries were peeking their way into the sun. The spinach (volunteers) had bolted! Good thing I have more started! AND we had friendly visitors!! 🙂
I have been in the garden EVERY day this week! At least 4 hours, a day. Weeding, thinning, tilling, planting (potatoes, for the first time, green beans, peppers, and tomatoes,…oh! and an eggplant!), harvesting, transplanting (volunteer sunflowers and 3 tomato plants)…. and photographing! 🙂
Sadly, the new chickens broke in the greenhouse and tipped over all our tomato and peeper seedlings. So I went to our greenhouse, Family Roots and got a few. For variety, I visited a new greenhouse, Robin’s Nest. The garden is almost full!! 🙂
Some pictures for your pleasure!!
Of course, yummy things coming from the garden means yummy and extra nutritious meals on our plates!!!
Yesterday there was even some playing in the dirt! I did it FarmGirl style! In my apron and rubber bots! We had to get my husband’s truck unstuck. The dirt sure was pretty!! And I used mom’s tiller! )I promise, there is a sundress under there!)
Hope your day is bright and full of sunshine!!! Have a blessed day!!
