It’s so hard to believe my oldest, my first, is 12! Where has time gone? She was this precious chubby cheeked “Pee”…..
To a young woman who is very passionate. Don’t ask what about…. 😉 You will be reading all night!!
We had a field trip on Friday. It was her choice; luckily it was right up her alley! The Heritage Days ay New Harmony was filled with people practicing the crafts of an older day. Perfect for my daughter and her “old fashioned” love.
So after a rude awakening, we got ready for our day, packed a picnic, fed animals, and headed out.
First stop, a picnic at Murphy Park with playtime!
Then onto the festivities! There were beekeepers, woodcarvers, rug makers, wood benders, oxen, broom makers, soap maker….SO many! Our favorite was something we had never seen before. Paper marbling. Wow!!!! A very sleepy Sawyer looked on from the mei tai while smelling the lilacs.
If you have never seen the Ocularium (I think that is how it is spelled), you should!! SO COOL!! It is in one of these cabins you see as we are leaving our fun. After sitting in the dark several minutes images from outside begin appearing on the white wall in front of you!
Isabelle was given this special scroll by one of the artists as a birthday gift!! I am not quite sure what her craft was called, but she made teensy cut paper silhouettes. Her husband was the wood bender. Such a sweet couple! We spent quite awhile visiting with them. They gave us the most wonderful compliments about Isabelle’s grammar and vocabulary. They could hardly believe she is only 12!
After leaving New Harmony, we headed back to EVV to shop for Isabelle’s gift. She asked for a new bike. 3 stores later we are still looking.
But we let her pick dinner, Cheddars, and a birthday dessert. Shockingly she chose a white cake with whipped icing. lol!
It was fun and educational! We are very glad we went!
Hope you had a nice weekend! God Bless!!
