Before getting too far, congrats to Marianne on winning my Spring Basket of goodies! Giveaways are so much fun!! 🙂 Thanks to everyone who entered!!
It’s a yucky, rainy day here on our tiny farm. We did have a fairly productive weekend, however.
I dubbed this weekend PROJECT: YARD RECLAMATION!
Our yard Summer 2010 (that is Gabriel I am holding).
Here is my yard…LAST YEAR!
About mid- April
June– LOOK!! I can’t tell you how much $ we spent trying to get this lush, greenness! It took over 10 years! Now, I know, grow food….Yes. NOW we are more concerned with food than beauty, BUT! A space that is lush for my children to play? Very important!
Sawyer’s Bday (September 2013) Starting to dry out, but that’s ok!
Fast Forward to post winter (of keeping goats and chickens penned).
Moral of the story, don’t keep the goats in your front yard all winter… We lost SO much. Several baby cedar trees, grass (roots and all), herbs… Now, I expected most of it. I just hoped it wouldn’t be THIS bad…
That is Right. This. Second. The Winkler Mudhole.
What do you do? Animals gotta be animals!!! Right? Well, then there is that DUH! moment…. The one when you say, if we just block off the far end of our yard we can keep the chickens (and Goats when it is pouring or freezing) there!! LIGHT BULB!
A few Cattle Panels and I get a YARD! 😛
Soon we will scatter seed!! It’s WELL fertilized!!! Hahaha!!
Meanwhile, we prepped the herb bed.
It may not get too green this year, but at least it won’t all be POO! Hee!!
